HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!! Now that the holiday season is behind us, many are working on the classic “New Year’s Resolution” theme. For some it is losing those extra pounds that resulted from the holiday festivities and for others it is losing bad habits or just getting back into better shape. All of us can use some tips to improve our health – with or without a New Year’s Resolution to push us. Here are some healthy facts and figures to encourage us and some guidelines that may improve our health in general:
• Winter is flu season and spreading it around is a real disservice to friends, relatives and coworkers. Since 60% of us tend to go back to work when we are sick, if you have the flu, it is recommended that you stay at home at least 2.7 days before going back to work.
• A hint if you are fighting your weight . . . . . You need about 7 hours of sleep every day to control your weight. A study of 21,000 people found that those who got 5 or fewer hours per night were 50% more likely to become obese.
• Watch your resting heartbeat rate. Normal range is 60 to 100 per minute and a recent study determined that a gain of only 10 beats per minute increases your risk of heart disease death by 10 to 18 percent.
• Even TV watching can have an impact on your health since too much time in front of the tube increases concentration of triglycerides in the blood and lowers HDL “good” cholesterol. Only 2 hours per day is recommended as a safe level of daily TV time.

Norton wants all of our customers and friends to stay healthy and happy so good luck with any New Year’s Resolutions and try to stay in line with good health habits. Remember, when your wheels are no longer healthy enough, come see us for a deal you can live with – regardless of credit scores and history.
